ASM Is Bringing Its North American Headquarters to North Scottsdale
The biggest office project going up north of Shea right now isn't a hotel or a mall. It's a semiconductor equipment company.
ASM, the Netherlands-founded company that builds the machines chipmakers use, is moving its North American headquarters from Phoenix to North Scottsdale. The company is tentatively planning to open in the first quarter of 2027.
Where it is
The campus sits on about 24 acres near Scottsdale Road and Mayo Boulevard, just south of the Loop 101. If you've taken the Scottsdale Road exit lately, it's the big campus going up on the east side.
What's being built
- A three-story office building of about 230,000 square feet
- A two-story research and development lab of about 180,000 square feet
- A five-story parking garage
That's roughly 400,000 square feet of office and lab space, and the company has said the investment will top $500 million.
Why it matters if you live up here
ASM already has more than 1,100 employees in Arizona. When it announced the move, it planned to add 500 jobs with a predicted average salary of $110,000. The company has said that number could change, so I wouldn't treat it as a promise.
Still, a headquarters like this pulls people toward it. Employees who can afford North Scottsdale usually want a short commute, and new condos like Atavia at One Scottsdale are a few minutes up the road. If you own near the 101 corridor, this is one more reason buyers will be looking at your area.
The timeline
- 2024: The City of Scottsdale reviewed and approved the project
- 2026: Construction underway
- First quarter of 2027: Tentative opening
